#Microsoft acpi compliant embedded controller driver download xp update
There must be thousands of users across the world who are experiencing the same issues and I would have thought that Microsoft would have released a driver for this hardware on Windows Update and certainly should be including it with Vista RC1. Windows XP has support for this hardware but, clearly, Vista does not.Ĭan anyone help with this problem and also tell me when MS SMART Battery & MS SMART Battery Subsystem will be supported by Vista. After checking the properties of the unknown device, I found that it has to do with the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Embedded Controller and after searching around the internet, other users of various notebook manufacturer's are having the same problem and the unknown device is the Microsoft SMART Battery and Subsystem. I noticed that urther down, there was an "Unknown Device". The Batteries entry should have had "Microsoft SMART Battery" & "Microsoft SMART Battery Subsystem", but none of this was visible. Upon checking in Device Manager, I noticed that there was no "Batteries" entry under "Computer". I installed Vista B2 on my Toshiba Equium L10 Notebook and although the installation went well and Vista works fine, I did notice that there was no "Battery Icon" in the systray, so I would not know when my notebook battery was running low and this was clearly evident when I was using the L10 and it suddenly just turned off without any prior warning - the battery was flat.
